ALUMNA PATSY STARS ON STAGE AND SCREEN THIS MONTH

Patsy Ferran - Miss Austen

Alumna and Olivier-award winning actress Patsy Ferran is never short of roles, and this month she’s appearing on both stage and screen in two critically acclaimed productions.

The first is ‘Miss Austen’, a lavish BBC1 period drama which began on Sunday February 1 and continues for the next three weeks. Patsy plays the Regency novelist Jane Austen and the drama tells her story through the eyes of her sister Cassandra (played by Keeley Hawes) who famously destroyed almost all her vast collection of Jane Austen’s letters. Based on the book of the same name by Gill Hornby, the drama attempts to discover what secrets the letters might have held and why Cassandra was so determined to destroy them. Episode two airs at 9.05pm this Sunday 9th February and you can catch up with episode 1 – or watch all the episodes – on BBC iPlayer.

Patsy Ferran - Streetcar Named Desire

Meanwhile Patsy is reprising her role as Blanche DuBois in a three-week run of the multi Olivier-award winning production of ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ at the Noel Coward Theatre in London’s West End. Patsy, who won a Critics Circle award for her performance in the sold-out 2023 run, appears opposite Paul Mescal, who won an Olivier Award for his performance as Stanley and went on to win further acclaim for his starring role in the movie blockbuster ‘Gladiator’.

The play runs until Friday 21 February so if you want to see it, you need to be quick! Go to https://tickets.delfontmackintosh.co.uk
