Year 7 STEM Day Challenge

Year 7 STEM Challenge Day

It was a hive of activity for year 7 this week at the Wind Turbine Challenge Workshop

The aim of the challenge was to construct a wind turbine to produce the greatest amount of electricity.

The girls produced a gearing system, designed and constructed turbine blades to maximise output and created a tower to carry the turbine.

Topics covered included – circuits and electricity, forces, renewable energy, structures.

The day finished with all 11 groups presenting their finished designs and showing their wind turbines in action!

Well done girls – a very impressive set of wind turbines – Notre Dame certainly has a number of future engineers!

To see the girls in action please do watch the Instagram Reel.
