Our Extensive Facilities
We have excellent facilities here at Notre Dame and we constantly review our educational practices to enhance our offering and ensure our teaching and learning resources are as up to date as possible. From our exceptional sporting facilities we run more than 15 competitive sports. We have an indoor heated 25m swimming pool, all-weather pitches, sprint track, netball courts and two cross-country tracks.
The creative arts are taken as seriously as our sport and we have an exceptional, professional-level theatre with 370 seats, dance studio with sprung floor and music suite.
We are proud of our STEM learning spaces, offering a state-of-the-art science block with physics, biology and chemistry labs and prep rooms. We are currently building a multi-million pound innovation hub – two-storey building (which will open in September 2024) where teachers and pupils will use the latest technology in their everyday learning. We also have a purpose-built Sixth Form centre, home to our ND6 students, two libraries that work for Prep and Senior levels, spacious and beautifully equipped Pre-school Nursery, playgrounds, treehouse and forest school that we utilise as outdoor learning environments.
We also hire out our facilities. If you are interested in hiring, please click here.
St Jeanne de Lestonnac
Innovation Hub
This new, high-tech, creative, flexible building is set in the heart of the Senior School and is designed to be used across all areas of the curriculum where our students can engineer rockets using the cutting edge CAD technology, build robots using laser cutters or create podcasts or movies using the latest green-screen technology – this space makes the latest high tech equipment available to everyone. Students have specialist teaching in technology and innovation so that they become highly skilled in digital and technological innovation.
At Notre Dame we have the highest aspirations for our students and STEM is a fundamental part of that. Our girls need to be highly skilled and experienced in utilizing innovation, creativity, technology and computing power whatever their careers will be – hence our unique approach to embedding innovation and technology across the whole curriculum and the co-curricular space as well as providing specialist subject teaching – a flexible, multiuse space sets us apart and empowers our students in technological skill, cross-disciplinary problem solving and teamwork
We are proud that women are increasingly taking their place in STEM nationally and internationally, including our own alumnae. STEM applications nationally to university are up by 11% and degree apprenticeships in STEM are increasingly popular – Notre Dame has a long history of producing trailblazing women in science, technology and innovation, and our new facility enables the next generation to carry that on
