Alumna Jenny Griffiths MBE joined Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and other senior ministers in Downing Street recently to recognize the Government’s commitment to lead in Artificial Intelligence.
Tech entrepreneur Jenny – who was just 27 when she was appointed MBE for Services to Digital Innovation – is now Vice President, AI Innovation, at US multinational computer science company Oracle. Along with other industry specialists, investors and regional mayors, she was one of 100 specially-invited guests who gathered to hear about the Government’s determination to make AI the centrepiece of its future plans.
The event, which included key speeches from Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and the Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology Peter Kyle, follows the January launch of the Government’s AI Opportunities Action Plan which aims to position the UK as a global leader.
“It’s an exciting time to be in AI” reported Jenny, who has become an industry lead on de-mystifying AI for business and writes a regular newsletter on the subject for Linked-In. With a Masters degree in Computer Science from the University of Bristol, she founded her first pioneering AI company while still studying and over the next decade grew it into an award-winning business before joining Oracle in 2023.
Known for her modesty despite her many achievements, Jenny is also the perfect example of how a self-confessed ‘introvert’ can succeed in business – she recently addressed over 5000 Oracle managers globally on how being an introvert can actually be a superpower. With an MBE and multiple awards to her name, she is certainly that and we are super proud of her!
