ND Year 7 and 8 Football Tournament

On Monday 17th March Notre Dame school hosted a Year 7 and Year 8 Football Tournament, in Partnership with Roll With It Football.

Not only did we have 16 teams sign up for the tournament (over 150 girls) but we also started the day with a football training session led by Roll With It.

Each footballer, took part in a Speed and agility based warm up and then went on to work on 6 technical stations, looking at passing, turning, dribbling, reactions, shooting and defending in a 1 v 1 situation.

After the morning’s training session was over the tournament began with the group stages, with the top team qualifying for the Premiership, 3rd and 4th teams qualifying for the Championship and 5th and 6th teams qualifying for Division 1.

In the final stages of the day the competition really took off, with some excellent displays of skill, goal keeping and some fantastic goals being scored.
With a golden boot award on offer- the goals started to fly in and a talented footballer from SWPS one that award.

The tournaments were extremely close with Tormead eventually winning on Goals Scored.

The Player of the Tournament, one to watch from Gordon’s, and The Golden Boot winner both won a free day at football camp with Roll With It Football.

Team ND came 3rd in the Championships!

It was amazing to have so many girls playing some excellent football and enjoying their sport.

Thank you for all those that supported and came to play.

Year 5 – 8 Cross Country Event at Danes Hill

The ND girls were back at the annual Danes Hill XC event on Tuesday. It is a very challenging course, with 20 schools in the Junior Race, Intermediate and Senior races. The ND girls performed to the best of their ability, giving some outstanding PB’s in this challenging course.
The Junior girls finished 5th overall with Theia R placing 2nd
The Senior girls finished 7th overall.

Well-done to all those ND girls who represented the school!

ND Senior Cross Country Team at Danes Hill Event

There were some fantastic personal runs across Years 5 – 8. It is always lovely to combine our Prep and Senior girls together for events like these. The Senior girls really did lead by example!

Hockey

U13 C&D v Broomwood

The girls had two really well matched games on Wednesday afternoon against Broomwood.

The Cs created lots of chances and started to play some spacious hockey but in the end lost 3-1. Whereas the Ds had a really tightly fought game going 2-0 up thanks to two goals from Thea and Broomwood managed to bring one back to end the game 2-1.

U13 As v KGS

This was their first game at 11 aside in preparation for next year.

The girls had a really close first half, figuring out the size of the pitch and a few new positions, but held their own against a more experienced KGS team with half time finishing at 1-0. The second half we spoke about the spacing and how to lead and create space on a bigger scale. The girls worked really hard but the size of the pitch and amount of running needed started to take its toll and the final result was 4-0 to KGS.

Clubs for Netball Players:

It is great to see a number of our students involved with netball clubs outside of school. If your daughter is playing regularly in school teams and would like advice or information on what the commitment is to join a netball club, or what other options exist, then please let me know and I will be very happy to try and help.

London Pulse Hub Pathway

There are a number of netball players who are developing really well and who may benefit even more from being in a London Pulse Hub Pathway. Trials will be held in the summer (normally July but there are late trials if players are away) and I can share details once dates have been clarified. In the meantime, feel free to reach out to me to discuss how we can further help your netballer develop.

You can register an interest by emailing Claire Long at claire.long@londonpulsenetball.com.
