Senior Biathlon Qualifiers Event 2024

Biathlon

National Schools Biathlon Qualifier

Last Sunday Notre Dame entered a number of senior girls for this National Qualifiers event. Well done girls for representing our School so brilliantly! We now wait until December/January to see who has qualified for the National Finals in March!

Hockey

U 14 and 15 Mixed Team vs Downsend School

Our mixed u14/15 team played a game against u16s this week amidst the showers! It was a great team performance winning 3-1 with goals from Freya, Martha and Julia.

MVPs Freya and Isla.

Mixed U14 and U15 Team v U16 Downsend

Netball

U18A & B vs St Teresa’s Effingham

U18A

U18 Netball a Team at St T Tournament

The team did themselves proud as a number of girls played out of position. The girls were up against a strong opposition in their section with several back to back games to contend with. They remained positive and never stopped working hard. The squad was down 3 players with only one shooter between them, however they moved players around with Ciara S playing Goal Attack. As a team they work hard to keep their motivation up and gave every game their best.

Results:
ND v St T = 20 – 12 loss
ND v Sutton = 11 – 5 loss
ND v Rosebery = 19 – 6 loss
ND v St Peters = 16 – 6 loss
ND v Howard = 16 – 6 loss
ND v Tormead = 15 – 10 loss

U18 B

U18 Netball B Team at St T Tournament

The girls played extremely well as a squad supporting each other in every game.
They won their first two games 11-9 against Sutton and 10-5 against Tormead.
After an hour’s wait, their next match against Rosebery resulted in a loss 9-16, however we had incurred an injury which lost us some time and the score line would have been closer.
The last match against St T’s was a very close match. We had to move a defence player into attack and it was goal for goal right to the end! We got a turnover to draw the match but not enough time to convert it to a goal to give us a draw. Final score was one goal loss 9-10 to St T’s but we did come away with a very respectable 3rd place medal!

REMINDER TO ALL STUDENTS AND PARENTS:

The Teams for the following week’s matches will always be posted on SOCS by Friday afternoon at the very latest, earlier if possible. A polite reminder for both parents and students to check SOCS to see if they have been named in a representative school team to compete on behalf of Notre Dame, which is an achievement.

Captains also need to confirm that their named team is available and ensure the Lead Teacher is made aware by Monday lunchtime the following week of any issues/lack of availability please.

Upcoming Fixtures:

Please remember to check SOCS for information and details about all upcoming fixtures.

NETBALL

Freya Smith - Netball Pulse

Congratulations to Freya S in Year 11 for being selected for the U17 Pulse Power Up Programme for the 2024/25 season with London Pulse. This is a huge achievement in being selected at highly competitive trials (I was one of the selectors for the U17 trials and we saw over 250 athletes just on one day) for a second year with London Pulse.

London Pulse athletes are selected for demonstrating significant netball ability in their preferred positions, having a strong work ethic and being able to work with other athletes in any combinations showing leadership and teamwork.

Our best wishes go to Freya for the netball season ahead.

Mrs Hook, Head of Netball
