Surrey Schools Relays

Notre Dame swimmers did a great job in the Surrey School Swimming Relays on Saturday night.

Surrey Schools Swimming Relays Sep 24 - Junior Team

The junior girls won the silver medal in the 4 x 50m front crawl relay coming second to Guildford High. All teams finished in the top 6! I’m hoping we qualify for the School Nationals in Birmingham again in November.

Gala v St Catherine’s

We went to St. Cat’s on Monday night for a very friendly swimming gala for the new year 7s and the year 8s.

Swimmer of the gala goes to Ava T for her commitment and support to the new year’s 7s.

Hockey

U14 A – B against Sir William Perkins’ (SWPS)

Both games were a game of 2 halves, where we were nervous in the first half and ended up playing a lot of deep defence. Both GKs, P. Owens & I. Manuel were class and kept their teams right in it. At Half time both teams were 4-0 down. Half time a confidence booster of what we were doing well, and a reminder of some of the key points to successful out letting meant that the second half we were much more on top. The final scores being 4-0 for the As and 6-2 for the Bs.

U14 v SWPS

U12 and U13 v St Edmund’s School:

This was an exciting day, where we had our first set of fixtures for year 7 & 8 in their games afternoon, this allowed 80 girls the opportunity to play competitive hockey!

The A’s and B’s from both years hosted St Edmund’s while the C’s and D’s travelled away. All games were really close and competitive games, with the overall results being 2 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses.

MVPs going to H. Mehta, H. Flatman, B. Pascolini Maytum, L. Pine, L. White, T. Parmar, A. Devlin & E. PLP

U14 Tier 4 7aisde Regional Finals.

U14 Regional Finals - Hockey

The girls had a really early morning leaving school at 7:30 for a drive to Canterbury. Here they played a tournament against 3 other schools. First up were a very strong Caterham who were a strong side and our girls were still finding their structure. After some extremely clinical finishing infront of goal from Caterham the game finished 6-0. Caterham had extremely similar score lines in their other games coming out overall winners. Our second game the girls started to play with much more confidence and energy, and ended up coming back from 2-0 down to level the game at 2-2 and then unfortunately a late goal won the game for St Lawrence College. Our final game was against Sir Roger Manwoods, and what a close game it was, the final score being 0-0. The girls had a great day finishing 3rd in the region, and then came the eventful drive home!

U14s Tier 3 11 aside

Friday was the arrival of winter! A very wet and windy morning saw the girls take to the astro to play against SWPS, a strong start almost caught SWPS off guard, but that awoke the beast, and they attacked with real power and pace and if it wasn’t for some awesome goalkeeping from P. Owens the score could have been really damaging , half time it was only 1-0 though.
The girls spoke about playing forward more and at pace, which created some more openings in the second half, but this then left us vulnerable to the counter attack and SWPS became clinical, the final score being 4-0. The second game saw SWPS also put 4 past Lingfield. This then left us to try and beat Lingfield to qualify in second. The game was very evenly matched but the difference only being the ability to score, unfortunately where Lingfield had the upper hand.
The final score 3-0 to Lingfield.

Netball

U18 A and B v SWPS

U18 A Netball Team v SWPS

U18 A

Led by captain Ellie D, this was a really competitive game for our team who had never played together before as it was their first match of the season. We played extremely well together as a team and the final score SWPS 39-ND14, didn’t do us justice. During the last quarter SWPS only just took it  9-7. We have lots of learning to take from it and look forward to a great season ahead!

MVP as voted by opposition – Ciara S

U18 B

U18 B Netball Team

Our team consisted of all U16 players who played up in this U18 match and drew match 19-19. It was a fantastic game with all 7 playing the whole match and they played against an older side! A great t4eam spirit by ND and some great shooting on display!

Freya S Captained the team and was also voted MVP by the opposition

Overall it was a really good 1st day on the netball court for Team ND!

For all those students who play in a shooting role, either GA or GS, please remember, there are now 2 sessions per age group to come and practice shooting and be coached by the PE team who are specialist as shooter coaches.
