On Monday 9th December, Danielle, Anya-Bee, Valentina and Rosa from Years 9, 10 and 11 participated in a Chemistry competition at the City of London Freemen’s school.
The year 9 students worked in pairs and the other students worked separately. As a year 9 participant, Danielle and I were given a sheet with an experiment, some questions on observations and results, and some additional tests. We were tasked with making copper sulphate and to follow the written method. After we had made this compound and added some other substances to run even more tests, we had to complete a quiz on general Chemistry knowledge. The test was quite difficult! Afterwards, we were invited into the 6th form hall for a lovely snack while we waited for the results.
Unfortunately, we didn’t win but a massive congratulations to City of London Freemen’s who won the competition!
Overall, it was a very fun challenge to participate in and I hope Notre Dame gets involved in other competitions like this in the future.
Many thanks to Mr Lee and Dr Prideaux for organising the trip.
