GSA Football Tournament in Warwick.
On April 19th, the U12A Notre Dame Team competed in the GSA Football competition in Warwick, and they put up an impressive performance throughout the day. In their first game, they managed to beat Merchant Taylor 2-0, showcasing their strong attacking abilities. They continued their winning streak with a 3-0 victory over Downe House and another 3-0 win against Edgbaston. Although they drew with Rye St Anthony, they were unlucky not to score, hitting the post twice.
The team’s strong performance in the morning games qualified them for the cup competition in the afternoon where they faced Loughborough. The game was intense, with both teams putting in a solid effort, but neither was able to score, resulting in a 0-0 draw. After the game, the team knew that they needed to beat Mary Erskine by a margin of three goals to qualify for the final.
With the pressure on, the team put in an excellent performance and managed to score two goals within the first half, putting them in a strong position. With five minutes left on the clock, the team was holding on to their lead, but Ava managed to score the crucial third goal with just two minutes to go, securing their spot in the final against Kings High. The girls were absolutely thrilled to be in the final, had got there without conceding a goal all day.
Although the team put up a strong fight in the final, they were unfortunately unable to secure a win and lost 1-0. Despite this, the team should be proud of their performance throughout the competition, showcasing their skills and teamwork to reach the final. It was a fantastic day of football for the U12A Notre Dame Team, and they should be commended for their efforts.
A huge well done to #TeamND
