Hockey
Welcome Helen Jelley!
We are extremely delighted to introduce our new Head of Hockey, Helen Jelley! Helen has a huge amount of experience in the coaching world and is relishing the challenge of taking ND to the next level!
She is a Hockey player at Guildford HC and a coach for their Talent Academy, as well as a coach for the England U16 Girls and the British Army Ladies. Along with this she is currently one of 11 coaches across Europe completing the EHF’s Top Coaches Programme.
‘As a coach her expectations of the players are to always work hard, have a tempo to every session and to always have fun whilst playing hockey.’ Her own hard work has definitely paid off as she played for Wales U21s, as well as winning the premier league indoor & outdoor, along with the club Europeans for Leicester and a number of other National League Titles with Swansea HC, Beeston HC & Guildford HC. Two of her greatest individual achievements were being named England Hockey’s Coach of the year and winning Europe’s top goal scorer.

Rowing
On Friday 17 March, Sasha competed for Kingston Rowing Club in School’s Head of the River which is a 7.3km time trial along the Boat Race Championship Course on the river Thames tideway.
Sasha’s WJ16 crew were competing up an age group in the Women’s Junior Championship Quads which meant they were racing against the best school age quads in the country. They rowed really well and came a very respectable 9th, significantly improving their starting position and beating some very good, older crews in the process.
On Monday 20 March, Sasha and her team mates competed at the National Junior Sculling Head at Dorney Lake which is a 3.6km time trial.
They competed in WJ16 4x category and after a fantastic row, their boat recorded the fastest time out of all 52 boats which meant they were National Junior Sculling Champions for their age group.
After her fantastic performances this year, Sasha has been selected to attend a GB U16 Rowing Camp in Nottingham from 1-3 April! Good luck Sasha!
