Football

U13 A & B v Tormead

The U13A’s had a 7-3 win against Tormead with some horrible weather (understatement) conditions. The girls braved it through the freezing rain and played some brilliant football, with goals from P.Owens, M.Robbins & F.Robinson. It was a truly great team performance, where they showed, grit, determination and team spirit.

Year 8 v SWPS

On Tuesday our year 8s play their first game of 11 aside to give them some preparation for next year. This gave Bea and Holly a chance to move up to play with the As squad, a reward for their hard work and excellent attitude this year. Both players settled in really well to the game with Bea really excelling with some excellent carries forward becoming a real threat for the SWPS defence to deal with. The girls really impressed with the hard work they put in getting used to the much bigger distances they had to cover in both leg work but also their passing. Some excellent control work from Chloe and Aoife at the back allowed us to not only stop the early SWPS attacks but also allowed us to transfer the ball out of congestion and release Bailey and Charis on the wings to carry and play the space. The game was a really even match game from both teams and at quarter time was 0-0. The next quarter we were able to play the space much better, and a lovely transfer of play and a perfectly waited ball forward from Bailey allowed Hettie to use her speed and get in behind the defence to then take on the GK and score to take the lead. At half time we were 1-0 up. The second half continued as it finished with both teams creating chances, getting shots away and goal keepers making great saves. The pressure came still from SWPS and they managed to gain an equaliser from a short corner. In the final quarter the girls really pushed on, keeping up with the style of play of trying to use the space on the pitch, avoid the contact and play for team mates to run on to. We had a small period of this last play where we kept the pressure on the SWPS defence and Charis was able to get the winner from a great flick on the right hand side.
A great game by both schools to set up for next years move to 11 a side hockey.

Final score Notre Dame 2, Sir William Perkins School 1.

Year 8 Hockey v SWPS

Year 9 v SWPS

On Thursday the U14 Hockey Team played a home match against SWPS. It was SWPS that created more opportunities and won the game but ND worked hard, particularly in defence, and GK Alexia W was voted MVP. Our midfield and forwards had some good runs but were denied by some strong defence. A good effort by everyone who played.

Year 9 Hockey v SWPS

ND 1st Team v Woldingham

Having never played Woldingham before, the game was a little of the unknown. The girls started the game really strongly, moving the ball around and developing their patterns of play and it wasn’t long between some nice link up play from Emily S to Miila who carried strong along the baseline and was able to finish from the narrow angle. We quickly doubled our lead with a strong win in the middle of the pitch leading to a fast counter attack where Miila got her second goal after a 1v1 with the GK. Woldingham started to stretch the pitch more and look to play long which made the game a little more open in play. With a lovely through ball from Emily H to Olivia H we were 3-0 up. Woldingham came back and finished the half with a couple of short corners but our defence held strong. The second half we started to create a lot more sustained pressure, Emily H carried strong through the middle, to release Miila who played Olivia H in on the right hand side, a great shot by her was matched by the keeper but Miila was there to put the rebound in and complete her hatrick! The continued pressure from the girls gave them further rewards with another goal coming from Emily H and a brace for Olivia H. The game finished with us have a little run of penalty corners but Woldingham fought right to the end to keep these out.

Final score Notre Dame 1XI 6, Woldingham 2XI 0.-

U16 v Downsend

This was an incredibly tight and competitive match by both teams with ND working so hard in defence all down the court.  At half time ND had taken a 6-3 lead but Downsend fought back to take the second half 6 – 8 to them, but, due to the great start and in particular our second quarter, our U16B took the win 12-11!  All 9 players were responsible for this well deserved win.

Players of the match as voted by the Opposition were Rebecca and Jess.
