Hockey
U13A vs St George’s Weybridge
On an extremely wet Tuesday the girls travelled over to St George’s to play a really competitive game of hockey.
Having beaten St George’s at the Surrey competition last year, there was a great rivalry to the game. The girls started really well, P. Hays using her skills to weave through the defence and E. Flower narrowly missing on the back post. St George’s then started to click with each other and became a real threat down our left hand side. Even to the best efforts of H. Flatman and L. Howes the deadlock was broken as St George’s took the lead. The girls then spent most of the half defending for their lives, and A. Theodorou, new into goal made some excellent saves while learning the ropes of this new specialist position.
Attack after attack came from the team in maroon and the cracks started to show a little when a few more goals went in. Half time and the score was 5-0. The rain started to ease off and in the second half the ND girls stuck at it. This half was much more even and the game finished with a goal mouth scramble that their keeper somehow managed to keep out. Score finish 7-0 to St George’s with P. Hays getting MVP.
U15A vs Prior’s Field School
With a week of illnesses the girls travelled to Priors Field with a bare 11. The game was very competitive and end to end. The small difference of a really good centre back for PF who dominated at the back and had a great strike at the short corner to take the lead 1-0.
The game continued to be really tight but some excellent defence and an amazing performance in goal from A. Crookes meant the score was kept down. The second half continued in the same manner, the only defence some clinical finishing from Priors Field. The final result being PF 3-0 ND and A. Crookes getting MVP.
U14 v St Teresa’s
U12 A and B v Prior’s Field
A great afternoon of Hockey for the U12A team. We started the game strong, applying good pressure to the opposition and keeping the game in their half. The first half finished 1-0 to us after a great injection from the short corner from Lily to Georgia, and Georgia slapping the ball hard to goal.
After equalizing in the second half our girls fought strong with some great tackles and gameplay. After countless nail biting short corner attempts Lily P took a great deflection into the back of the goal to go 2-1 up. Prior’s Field managed to sneak a last minute goal just before the final whistle to equalise in a well matched thriller.
Final score being 2-2.
The B Team also had a great and very close game – final score – 1-1
