Dear Parents
It has been great this week to meet lots of you at the art and textiles exhibition – wasn’t it amazing! The talent and hard work of the students really shone, and there was such variety of styles and topics, all made with such wonderful skill!
This week has also been ‘results week’ for years 7-10 (with more results for year 10 to come) – we talked in assembly on Monday about how proud the teachers are of the hard work and determination of our students, whatever the results turn out to be. We are celebrating the effort and the process, and not focussing too much on the outcome as this is the most encouraging way to support wellbeing – and importantly also to raise achievement as students focus more on effective learning techniques and good study habits, which leads to higher grades.
Our Year 12s have been starting their Higher Education journey this week, with sessions on applying for university and the UCAS process, study abroad, apprenticeships, meeting some of our former students, and effective use of gap years – Sixth Form is so short, with only around 65 school weeks from the first day of Year 12 to the final A Levels!
We are continuing with our building project – despite all the rain! The windows and external work will be starting soon so it will look very different out in the quad. We had a demo of some excellent VR equipment ready for lessons to start in the autumn – it was absolutely fascinating how VR can bring topics alive!
At our open evening yesterday our student tour guides did a wonderful job hosting our visitors – thank you to them and to all the parents who made logistical arrangements to allow the girls to stay for the event.
Wishing you a lovely weekend, hopefully with better weather
