IZZY SCORES A WINNING GOAL AT CHELSEA

Izzy Woodger Farnborough FC Team Member

Alumna and keen footballer Izzy Woodger got to score a goal in front of her idol, Lioness and Chelsea Captain Millie Bright OBE, during a video shoot at the Club’s Cobham training ground recently.

Izzy, 19, who learned her footballing skills at Notre Dame, was invited to Chelsea to appear in a video being shot for Skoda, the Official Car Partner of Chelsea Women FC. The resulting film – also starring Chelsea goalkeeper Hannah Hampton and Striker Catarina Macario – is part of a social media campaign to highlight the partnership between the popular car manufacturer and the most successful team in FA Women’s Super League history.

Said Izzy, who now plays Midfield for Farnborough FC: “My Uncle works for the advertising agency that was making the video, so when he was looking for a young female footballer to feature, I volunteered straight away! The chance to meet Millie Bright OBE and the other top players at Chelsea was too good to miss.”

Izzy was one of several guests invited to show off her skills, which have been honed over many years playing first for the Oxshott Royals and latterly as part of Farnborough FC’s first ever women’s team. Their record is impressive; the team is Division 3 Champion of the Hampshire County Womens Football League and are currently unbeaten in the League this season.

Meanwhile Chelsea FC Women has won the Women’s Super League trophy for the past five years and is poised to secure the trophy for a record sixth time this season. Good luck to both teams, who continue to inspire football-loving girls to follow their dreams.
