Teachers, parents, librarians, school staff, home educators and children’s literature lovers voted online for their favourite books.
There were three categories: fiction, non-fiction and picture books. Within each category there’s a diverse range of prose, poetry, graphic novels and drama; and each category includes titles from preschool, children’s and YA age ranges.

Children’s Fiction Book of the Year 2024 Winner
Outside In by Daniel Thompson, illustrated by Julia Murray
Outside In is a collection of 50 nature poems by storyteller and musician Daniel Thompson, author of Being You: Poems of Positivity, which was selected for the Reading Agency’s 2023 Summer reading challenge.
In this latest collection, the poet shares his enjoyment of the natural world in the hope that it will “spark a love of nature, bring calm and happiness and let the outside in.”
