Senior Eco-Club Recycle Paper Book

Recycle Paper Book

Pupils at school use an average of 250Kg of paper per year. By the end of that year, most of it gets thrown away or stored for later revision. Our goal with this project was to find a use for wasted paper throughout the school. We brainstormed many ideas, but as a group, we decided that making it into a notebook so it can be used again was the best solution.

EcoClub Recycled Paper BookFirst, we collected unwanted paper from throughout the school. Next, we shredded it into small pieces and placed these pieces into a tray of warm water to soak until mushy and mouldable. When we decided the paper was ready, we took our sieve and poured the soaked paper onto it to create a perfect rectangular shape for our paper.

EcoClub Recycled Paper BookWith the paper we collected, we managed to make 8 pages of recycled paper. After some discussion, we decided to leave these pages by the window to dry for 2 weeks in order to give them sufficient time to dry.

After checking that our pages were thoroughly dried, we took our dry pages and sewed them together with a needle and thread to make a beautiful notebook.
