Passport to Reading

Library Lessons are well underway and it is fantastic to see so many students enthuse about books. Ever popular with the new Year 7 students are books written by Michael Morpurgo, Jacqueline Wilson, Robin Stevens and Sophie Cleverley.

Regarding genres, there are regular requests for war fiction books and here are some of the titles we recommend …

There have already been some takers for ‘read a classic for a badge’ scheme (if students read a children’s classic and write a book review, they receive a special badge which they can wear at school).

Passport To Reading

At the start of term, new Reading Passports were given out to students in Years 7 – 9. This is a very popular scheme where they ‘travel through’ their passports by reading books of different genres; complete book reviews and acquire stamps. Once the passport is full a Notre Dame Book Award is given which involves many prizes! We look forward to awarding many more this year and giving out badges for great attitudes towards reading.
