U12 A Netball v Box Hill

Netball

Notre Dame Netball had a very good outing against Box Hill school this week with wins in both our U13 A and B teams as well as our U12 A team. All 3 teams were able to play all their squad and more importantly, despite the big score lines in our favour, demonstrated really positive respectfulness to the other school and were kind to their opposition. We should all be very proud of the teamwork demonstrated by all our players and how well they represented our school.

Between the 3 netball teams we scored a total of 87 goals, an incredible outcome and credit to all the players.

Hockey

U12 A and B v SWPS

The girls were straight back into fixtures after the Christmas break and last week’s frozen pitches.

Both teams started well but were a little crowded, but few reminders of the space we can use and the structure we play to then had the girls able to play some really lovely free flowing hockey. The Bs unfortunately just could quite complete these connections in the final third and found themselves 1-0 down at half time. The As had the opposite fortune and through some great play found themselves 1-0 up with a goal from Emily.

The second half for both teams was much a repeat for both teams with the Bs finding themselves down 2-0 through some lovely link up play by SWPS and this was how the game finished. While on the other pitch the second half was a really even game but some outstanding defending by Georgie and goal keeping from Amelia meant that SWPS were kept out, while some great work in attack meant that Lily doubled our score. Finishing the game as a 2-0 win.

Results

ND A team won 2-0 with goals from Emily and Lily and MVP went to Emily

ND B team lost 2-0 but some big improvements on using the space, MVP went to Darcy

1st XL v St Teresa’s

We were invited to St Teresa’s for the opening of their new pitch. This was a great event and the girls were able to hear from GB Olympian Izzy Petter about her journey to play in 2 Olympics and being a full time athlete.

The match game started.

The girls were a little bit rusty but had a really good battle in the first quarter with Alexa making a great reaction stick save to keep the score at 0-0. St Ts applied the pressure with a really good high press and this was rewarded with a number of short corners, for which they managed to convert and take the lead at quarter time. The second quarter St T’s built on this and scored some really nicely worked goals taking the score to 5-0. The second half we addressed a few issues and came out the blocks blazing, working the ball down the right and winning our first short corner of the game. This was a lovely slip move that Olivia converted into the top corner. The game became a lot more open and the fitness took its toll with only one sub compared to their full bench. The final scores was 9-1.
