¡Hola a todos! Are you looking for authentic and delicious Spanish cuisine? If so, you are in luck. Let me introduce you to Don Luis, a lovely family-run Spanish tapas restaurant located in the heart of Esher High street.
My parents and I absolutely love to try new foods – we always enjoy learning about different cultures through their cuisines. Therefore, when we heard that there was a local tapas place called ‘Don Luis’, we knew that we had to try it.
It’s safe to say that this restaurant did not disappoint – the food was excellent, the atmosphere was very pleasant, and the servers were absolutely fantastic. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by upbeat Spanish music, and their cozy mediterranean-style interior. We all agreed afterwards that we had an absolutely amazing time!
I have attached a labelled photo of the food that we ordered, and each one was wonderful! As a vegetarian, sometimes it is difficult to find places with a lot of options (especially cuisines with typically a lot of meat like Spanish food). However, I actually had plenty to choose from, which I was very surprised by.
Each day, Don Luis provides their ‘dishes of the day’ – I chose the mushroom croquettes, and they were heavenly! You can also never go wrong with the ‘pimientos de padrón’ (peppers) – my dad even said that they even reminded him of our Chinese style peppers, which is very high praise.
For my main, I ordered the ‘berenjenas al horno’ (baked aubergine with cheese), and I cannot recommend it enough – I am definitely going to order it again the next time that I eat there. Of course, for dessert, you could never miss out on the iconic Spanish churros – they were perfect – warm, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. We also shared a Basque cheesecake, and that was absolutely amazing as well.
