Year 6 Financial Literacy Club Nov 5th

Year 6 Financial Literacy Club

This half term we are concentrating our efforts on how we spend our money wisely.

First, we talked about WANT vs NEED.

We then found out the importance of doing research before we buy anything expensive. This will always help us make better purchase decisions. We kept in mind that cheaper doesn’t necessarily mean better.

Y6 Financial Literacy Club

We posed and answered the question, “Why does the same item sometimes cost different amounts from different shops and websites?”.

Y6 Financial Literacy Club

We considered the suggestion of starting any purchase investigation by asking friends and family about the item we wanted: “how much did it cost?”, “where did you buy it from?” and “was it worth the money?” are all good questions to ask someone who knows the item.

Y6 Financial Literacy Club - Research Before you buy

After watching a video on how to go about researching the best deal, we decided to investigate the iPhone 16 ourselves. We were careful with the websites we looked at and during our investigation, we saw the availability and cost of a refurbished iPhone 15. This was a staggering £425 cheaper! We then debated if we could consider buying the previous generation iPhone, waiting until the price of the iPhone 16 dropped, or if we should consider different colours, payment options or sellers to get a better deal.

Keep saving that pocket money girls!
