Year 6 Trip to Henley Fort

Y6 Humanities Trip to Henley Fort 2025 FBOOK

On Tuesday, Year 6 visited Henley Fort as part of their Humanities exploration of World War II.

Henley Fort is a Victorian Fort on the Hog’s Back above Guildford. It was constructed to defend London from a potential French invasion. It was later used by the Home Guard in World War 2.

The Home Front activity day gives pupils an exciting living history experience about the lives of those who lived during World War 2. Year 6 were provided with authentic uniforms and had the opportunity to take on the role of both a Surrey Home Guard volunteer and an Air Raid Warden.

Afterwards, the girls wrote reports on their trip and clearly all enjoyed their visit to Henley Fort:

“ It’s a fun and energetic activity.”

“ I loved this trip and would definitely go again.”

“It was so much fun!”

“I learnt lots and they were very helpful. I would definitely give this a five star review.”
