From the very first visit for story time as a member of our nursery pupils are guided along the journey to becoming confident and enthusiastic readers and competent users of information of all kinds.
The range of resources available include more than 7000 books, weekly newspapers and magazines for children and a vast array of on-line research sources. There is a wide variety of literature available and pupils are encouraged to see reading as an enjoyable and rewarding pastime. Regular visits by authors, illustrators and poets, book fairs, competitions and events support this for every age group.
Each term girls from Year 6 volunteer to be Library Prefects giving them the opportunity to share their love of books and our library with younger pupils.
Pupils, staff and parents are kept up to date with news from the world of children’s books through the library’s Twitter account and the weekly Reading Matters section in the school mailing.
The right book is out there for every child and in the Notre Dame Prep Library our aim is to put that book into each child’s hands.
